I would try to explain some part of that confusion... If at some point somebody of your ancestry were living and reproducing in the area long enough to show that big percentage of what you got in the table its okay, but there is other ancestry from where other percentages and physical marks come too.its more complicated than it looks but in the end it evolves over time to make more accurate guesses. And with evolution of science at some point may become 100% sure.

  21. dreasbn
    4 päivää sitten

Oh it’s fun and maybe a little True. At least in my case it was pretty much what my Late father found By doing coventional ancestry search some 30 40 years ago. But still its an estimation and sometimes surely not put in the correct historical context. It really says nothing about where you are from but where people NOW live that share dna similarities which is a big difference. For example in my case my heritage Said my mum my sister and me have some 40% English which is definitely not the case but Most english will have big similarities to People from nothern Germany and maybe Denmark due to those tribes who settled England in the early middle ages. Knowing that It’s Most likely much More english People did the test and so database referrs me to those though historically it’s probably the other way round... so you should combine the result of the database and set it into an historical context and it might make some sense. And the updating could make the test result more „accurate“ just by adding more data. That’s how I understand it. Taken the English 40% as actually northwest German the other 60% seem to make pretty much sense it was ok for the price. On top I understood that you a maternal and paternal dna and for the cheap price those companies usually only Analyse one gender dna in my case the paternal. Again this would explain in my case the differences between mine and my sisters and hers to our mothers and my differences. But yes at the end of the day it’s just a databased estimation.

That is a typical American rating-generating video. Even in identical there are some minor differences. but the point it, which section of saliva or swab was taken - and there is a chance some of it was not there, or not included there. How did My Heritage got it right and the others didn't? well it is the better resourced company (although 2nd largest in the world) and their science and math a more advanced, it seems.

No, just because they're twins, they do NOT need to have the same DNA. Genes are taken from 3 generations back. That is 100s of people. So each twin could get different results. Of course ancestry testing is not of high quality,

  35. Alley Cat
    Alley Cat
    7 päivää sitten

Whether your identical twins or just regular siblings your not going to have the same results, simply because we don't get all the same gene's. You have different gene's that get passed on, we have more then 1 set of grandparents throughout our tree for generations back. The more ppl that take DNA tests, the more thing's will change. Research your tree the old fashion way & just use the DNA results as a stepping stone. Not as fact or guarantee.

I personally believe that the results are more accurate than the hipster dude is saying. Here's why in a nutshell if you are African American I can almost guarantee your percentage is going to be African continent. That's just one simple example. Here's my example, I've had family trees done from different companies that went back to the 1400's in some circumstances. Breaking down my family tree, I am 60-70% German, 20% or so English with Scottish and Irish. And the remaining small % being Italian. I've done reports with Ancestry and 23 and Me. My results were identical to the percentages of my family tree. Mostly German, and then lesser U.K. and very small percentage of Italy. I don't wanna say these major companies are be all end all in terms of accuracy. But I was pretty impressed with the almost identical comparison between my family tree and there results. Maybe I'm an outlier and just got lucky but I doubt it

Don't geneticists say that you are each a blend of your two parents, but you don't necessarily have an blend of the precise same factors? A parent of Dutch & German and a parent of French & Dutch may produce two children (siblings) with each having a different percentage of the various heritages that comprised their parents. One child may be 80/10/10 Dutch German French and the other child may be 20/40/40 Dutch German French.
